SHERLOCK BBYS, MIDDLE EARTH AND NÄRCON

Hello again our precious readers:)

In this blog post I'm going to tell you so many awesome and lovely things that i'm already sorry for being too excited about everything!

Before I go to the lovely details of last week I will however tell you some cosplay plans since this time...there are plenty! and these are ones that are quite 100% sure.

First of all, our Sherlock cosplays that are mostly done for Poke and half done for me and that will be seen in Tracon and Närcon. Kitty Riley and Jim Moriarty from BBC Sherlock.



Jim's the one on the front and Kitty on the back. Also see our lovely cosplay group (or part of it, there are more!!)

Then for the future, we're about to do these two lovelies from Les Miserables (Cosette and Jean Valjean):

 

And even more to come...Star trek cosplays! (awfully lot of westerns but we're not exactly too fond of anime) Carol Marcus and Keenser from Star Trek! Awesomeness..



And last but not the least, these babies that will be seen in Närcon as well! Galadriel and Samwise Gamgee from The Hobbit/ Lord of the Rings.



WHEW. So many plans for future! I guess our future conventions are quite full...

Actually now that I dug out Galadriel and Sam, I could also talk about the reason we first started to make them. From 8.-11.8 we have this thing called Keskimaan mökkimiitti (Middle earth's cottage meet up wat.) which is held in Kuusamo and just look at the sceneries! It's like made to be a place to shoot LOTR.



Also it's not only the sceneries but also the food is going to be middle earth-ish so basically we're spending 4 days in middle earth. Isn't it perfection? Oh yes it is. I'm actually thrilled now.

Speaking of the things that we're thrilled about, one of them is definitely Närcon! I can't remember if I've told you before but we were actually accepted to host a program in Närcon. It's going to be about the conventions in Finland and how to get here. WE WANT YOU SWEDES. So see you guys in Närcon, please look for Kitty and Jim / Sam and Galadriel.

After Närcon we will be busy with another event called SASSY 2013 which is held  3.8 in Turku. Sassy is a Sherlock event for Sherlockians. What makes this crazy? We were actually invited to attend this event with our awesome Sherlock cosplay group. Please see our tumblr  221B cosplay. It's perfection. We will not only attend SASSY but also go there a day before to chill with our Sherlock bbys. Oh dear these guys are amazing! We've more or less spent the last week with that group...yes, all the nights and all. Amazing. We miss them ;__;

The last but not the least I'm going to tell you something (again) amazing! We are actually hosting a Sherlock programme in Fanfest 2013 this year (5.-6.10.2013) Man we're busy with these conventions lol. No autographs today.

So many things to look forward to! And more to come. I was about to talk about how Sam and Galadriel are doing right now but then I should dig out a memory card and all and meh. Poke will make that update.

I guess this is all, just please all be happy with what you got. And go for it if you get a chance to meet new people they seriously can make your life better. We've met our new cosplay group during the last week and it has been so awesome we just want to cry out of happiness.  You guys deserve a big hug!

DESUCON FROSTBITE AND SOME SPEEDMEETING

Hello all the lovely people! This is Poke updating our blog again!
Momo just left back to Valkeakoski so this will be all me! BWAHAHAHHAA

I'll start with the last Thursday, this is not entirely cosplay related, but I just want to show you some cool stuff! So on Thursday we had this thing called Penkkarit  and I dressed up as Harley Quinn! You'll see the photos of Harley Quinn later, what I wanted you to see was these supercool signs our class made, I was helping quite a lot so I'm very proud of these lol.

 So I have painted Bane, Superman, Harley Quinn and Loki to this one (and the text), the others were made by my lovely classmates!

And then there's this one which is absolutely fabulous! I didn't do too much work with this one but JUST LOOK AT IT!!! and these are some huge signs, since they cover the sides of a lorry!

Anyways, enough of the Penkkari's, let's talk about..

DESUCON FROSTBITE

I'll make this cool day by day thing as usually :D

Friday:

We started our journey to Desucon Frostbite on Friday morning, with me, Poke, Momo and Hansku (check her blog btw). I had slept like 2,5 hours on last night due to the Penkkarit After Party and Momo and Hansku were also a bit hungover so we kind of..didn't function :D Anyways, we went to Helsinki and just  rolled around (buying manly and womanly pants) for few hours, doing pretty much nothing. The reason why we went there at all, was that our dad was going there and offered to throw us to Lahti since he was on the move already.

As we arrived to Lahti, it took about five minutes to make our room all messy and well, like a cosplayer room. We basically did Momo's costume the whole evening and drank Megaforce since we needed energy!!!!11 (true badasses)

Later in the evening, our friend Amanda joined us (does she have a blog?)

Saturday:

On Saturday morning we woke up at seven, more or less tired. We were ready way before we were supposed to leave, but there's nothing wrong with being early right?
Anyways, I cosplayed Jim Moriarty from BBC Sherlock, with the crown jewels that were hell to make! I'm planning on making some tutorial/ post about the crown itself if I manage to take detailed photos first.

Momo, Hansku and Amanda had their Pandora hearts group and I don't have any photos of them all, but here, have Momo!

Note! the wig has fallen slightly in this photo! but you'll have more of her as the photoshoot pictures arrive!

I'm letting Momo tell you more about this cosplay and so on when she has time.

We also had our Speedmeeting on Saturday and god did it go well?

We were both sure there wouldn't be too many people but we were horribly wrong! Before the whole program even officially started, there were many people waiting and oh my god! At first, we were sure they were just some random people who were just chilling in the room after the previous program but NOPE.

So it went quite well! so well, that we were even  asked if we'd like to arrange it at Desucon too! and yes DO WE DOOO

In the evening we went to the evening party, and what happens in the evening party, stays in the evening party...

Sunday:

On Sunday we all slept way too long and yeah, that's it.

I don't have too much to tell really..we just sort of went around and stuff.

OHHH yeah! the cosplay bootcamp! We were at a panel about Cosplay bootcamp and god yes! it sounds just brilliant! Check their Facebook page for more information

We were  also listening this Digimon vs Pokemon thing and it was cool, even though I hardly listened since I was so tired :( but it was loads of fun!

I cosplayed Harley Quinn (also the Penkkari costume) and here's some photos! We didn't take too many of them since it was FREEZING

Then there's Momo and her Black Canary costume, that we failed to shoot in Tracon so we did that now (though not too much since it was still freezing lol)

I'm playing sophisticated today and going to watch some Shakespeare's Hamlet so yeah, better get ready :D

GURLS STEP UP TO THE PARTAYY

Yo mah fellow cosplayas! How's the thug life rollin' in da hoodz?

It'z supa cool ya know? Just get in da mood shawt's cuz this is gon' b so damn gr8 piece of txt!!

Ok ok ok. Let me get into god news. I'm going to write the rest of this post with a normal(ish) English.

Why did I ask you to play that song? Well firstly, IT'S SO GOD DAMN GREAT. Secondly, the lyrics kind of match our current cosplay motivation and thirdly, our costumes are almost done. Yes you heard right. Almost done. Which is kind of good since Desucon Frostbite will be held in a week. Omg yes. In a week.

For me, Momo, the situation is looking quite good already!! My coat is ready and my bootcovers only lack laces and then boom! I'm done. Ok I need to attach the front piece to the jacket and the bow as well but prfft that's an easy job, isn't it?
As for the scythe, the situation isn't looking as god but I will get to paint it tomorrow so close enough?
Seriously though, I need to give a big applause to myself. During this weekend I've:

- painted all the fucking squares to the whole costume (there were around 30 damn squares.)
- sewn the cuffs to the sleeves
- attached the hem to the upper part
- the collars
- the scythe into the point where I just cover it and paint it.
- bootcovers nearly done
- wigstyling for both me and Poke.
- Ok I've fucking moved this costume from point 20% done to 95% done. THAT'S ALOT.
- (gotten a new phone and finished my school assignments ok lol nope)

Desucon Frostbite is on the worst weekend possible for me since I have a load of exams and assignments coming up just before it and also right after it so you will be finding a bookworm Momo with a cute Marketing book from our hotel room. Haha. Hahahahahaha. Nope. Like I really could study during the convention? Lol nope.
And yes. I'm only doing one cosplay for the whole convention though I may  use one of my old cosplays on Sunday. (Black Canary? Seriously I have no idea:D)

Now let me hand the power over to my bro Pok-E yo dawg.

SSUP  YALL? IT'S POKEY DOKEY POK-E THE BIG E YALL KNOW- oh enough? okay

SO my costumes for the weekend are doing quite fine too! In fact, to speak the truth, both costumes are fucking 90% or more done yissssss.

Okay, so Harley Quinn  is basically ready, all I need to do is some little finish up with the details and stuff like that, so getting in there may I say? But my deadline with Harley Quinn is..oh well in four days, since I'm wearing it to the Penkkari's (scroll down few posts to get the explanation..)
Momo made so cool-looking list so yeah this is me copying her, deal with it.

-Dress is done, all it needs is some basic finishing like you know, cutting the threads and you know, basic.
-The collar lacks few stitches, but I'll get there as soon as I find a needle, seriously, ALL our hand-sewing needles have gone missing...
-Shoes are styled and done
-I made the coolest ring!
-I bought 5 pairs of white stockings, just in case (they were 1.50euros/5 pairs so not a great loss?)
-I made cool hammer with you know, cool stuff and so on.
-The hammer is cooolll
-coool hammer I haz
-HAMMER TIEM
-um yeah. The wig needs fixing but Momo is on it.

AND then I have the lovely Jim Moriarty.

I'm pretty much done with him too, only the crown has lots to do but I'm on it...and I've taken my cosplay to whole new level by learning ALL Jim's lines from the show, how cool is that?
But because  lists are cool:
-The cape has still some stuff to do...like boring sewing stuff
-but it's almost there
-The crown lacks some BLING DA BLING BLING and some FUR DA FUR FUR YO DAWG I'M THE KING YALLLL
-and then there are the trousers...I have no idea.
- make up is being under rehearsals
-shirt and shoes I haz.

I think that's it about them, Momo got anything left?

Well...I could throw a few words about our program during the weekend. BECAUSE POKE MADE THESE AWESOME POSTERS AND AWW YISS.

Yeah. But really. We are really looking forward to it and if you're coming, then hey IT'S ONLY A WEEK AWAY. Time to flip dat shit if your cosplay is not done or worse, even started.

However it's 1.16 AM and I should really go to bed since I will wake up early tomorrow to make my scythe. "Yay." (Nay.) Good night our dear readers ♥

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello all of you wonderful people still reading this blog:D

To begin with, we are (again) awfully sorry for not posting here in what...78 days but to be honest, we haven't really had anything to update! I (Momo) have been really busy with school and we haven't really had any conventions or on going costumes or anything interesting to put up here. So let's take a whole new point of view to this: We have been saving you from nonsense updates about how to peel a banana without hurting it's feelings. (If you wish to know how to do it though, just request an update and we will tell you)



We have just been lazy. Sorry about that.

Ahem, back to the subject.

So, the next convention we will be attending is Desucon Frostbite that is held from 16th to 17th of February in Lahti as usual. We even have some cosplay plans! We have usually cosplayed from the same series but this time we will not do so. Tragic? Nope. I would make Poke write about her own costume but that amount of text would be horrible so let me tell you what she's cosplaying:

On Saturday:



Jim Moriarty - BBC Sherlock

Oh let me explain this to you: A while ago, me and Poke happened to watch BBC Sherlock and oh my god we loved it and so, Poke decided to make this costume from the adorable scene where Moriarty steals the crown jewels. How cool is that? So far she has bought the fabric and some diamonds for the crown and visited the fabric store and tried to find a good fabric for the gown.
Almost done? :) (no, no sarcasm over here)

And for Sunday she will probably do something fun and cool and awesome aka she doesn't know yet.

And for me Saturday will be:


Alice Baskerville - Pandora Hearts

Aww yiss. I finally found a costume that I actually want to do. Aww yiss.
Guess what I have done to get this one done? I have ordered a wig. YES I HAVE ORDERED A WIG THAT MEANS IT'S 99% DONE THAT MEANS I'M DONE
Clothes and shoes and other stuff is only like 1% of the costume. Isn't it?:)

AAND for the Sunday, Yes Poke got me to do this:




DALEK. FROM DOCTOR WHO.

I know right? SO COOL. What do you mean it's big? What do you mean you will invade all the space? NO, I'm making a fucking Dalek and you bitches better deal with it.
Exterminate.

Ok Ok I may have to do this for some other convention instead of Frostbite (Poke says no, you will do i for Frostbite. IM BEING FORCED TO DO A DALEK COSTUME) because of the size but fine then. FINE. I hope Poke can find a way to fit this inside a car.

So that was it? Oh wait no it wasn't.

I think we are losing it because right now, Poke is planning to make three new costumes for Frostbite. In fact, the third one would be:



Jack Frost - Rise of the Guardians

Yes. Poke joins the army of Jack Frosts in the whole convention. Jack Frosts everywhere!
