MOMO AND THE BAD EXCUSES

Hello everyone!

Today I will write about the progress that I have made with my costume and leave Poke's part to herself when she finds the energy to write this blog. Funny enough, most of the recent posts are written by me, Momo. Oh well, I guess I like writing and tend to be the writer one. Now, however, I'm not even accompanied by Poke as usual. So have some 100% of Momo's beautiful writing. Nope.

Well, first of all I have bought the fabrics! And even cut the fabrics for the coat and actually even sown some of the parts together. Nothing enough to be decent enough to put here but c'mon, I've DONE something. All I need to do is to finish the sewing (or make someone else do it eheehheheeheh) and make the shoes. Yes. The shoes.

They are something like this. Not exactly though, the heels should be gray and slightly higher but those are pretty close.

I would really like to find a pair of white boots but haven't succeeded so far so I guess my only option is to cover black/etc. boots with white fabric (as I was wonderfully instructed by this lovely person )
I do not want to. The temptation of ordering them is big but come on 50 dollars for cosplay shoes? Nope.



The costume itself is not in a too bad situation since the con is still after over a month. I have cut the fabric for the red parts and the hem for the white and what I should do is that bow and that thing in front of the jacket. What is that even? That skirt is pretty much a basic really short black skirt. I don't even know if it is a skirt? I should really buy the lining for the jacket since it's not going to look good without it. So much sewing asjsdkjgskh.

The wig hasn't arrived yet, (Or then it has but Poke hasn't told me you peasant.) So I can't tell how much work it will require. But wig styling is fun. Ok it's not fun if the wig doesn't do what you tell it to do.

For my personal life, I am currently on a sick leave until next Monday so I think I can actually make some progress this week since I don't need to go to school! Yay. Except for the weekend. I have some other plans.

I could just end this here but wouldn't it be boring? Let me tell you some of my best tactics to (try and) make Poke do the work for me:

- I can't do this. -> Really Momo you can't stitch a piece of fabric to another? Bad excuse.
- I don't know how to do this. -> Usually Poke helps me and finally does it. Success!!
- But I've done so much already. -> Momo, you have been sitting there and tweeted with your phone while eating ice cream. Doesn't work.

And if Poke is not around (like right now)

- I need to update our blog!
- I need to clean the whole apartment and do the laundry.
- Hey this school project is actually really interesting.
- I never really thought doing the dishes was so fun!
- Look who's online!
- But I absolutely need to go to Tumblr.



Ok I know Bad bad bad excuses. Really bad. I should feel bad.

There's one more thing that describes my motivation though. Today my Internet connection was down for a bit over an hour and I was at home and that would've been the perfect time to make my costume but guess what I did.

I played solitaire with my computer.

Solitaire.



Ha. Haha. hahaha. no.

I will now go and make my cosplay aka eat and watch Doctor Who.

Hello all of you wonderful people still reading this blog:D

To begin with, we are (again) awfully sorry for not posting here in what...78 days but to be honest, we haven't really had anything to update! I (Momo) have been really busy with school and we haven't really had any conventions or on going costumes or anything interesting to put up here. So let's take a whole new point of view to this: We have been saving you from nonsense updates about how to peel a banana without hurting it's feelings. (If you wish to know how to do it though, just request an update and we will tell you)



We have just been lazy. Sorry about that.

Ahem, back to the subject.

So, the next convention we will be attending is Desucon Frostbite that is held from 16th to 17th of February in Lahti as usual. We even have some cosplay plans! We have usually cosplayed from the same series but this time we will not do so. Tragic? Nope. I would make Poke write about her own costume but that amount of text would be horrible so let me tell you what she's cosplaying:

On Saturday:



Jim Moriarty - BBC Sherlock

Oh let me explain this to you: A while ago, me and Poke happened to watch BBC Sherlock and oh my god we loved it and so, Poke decided to make this costume from the adorable scene where Moriarty steals the crown jewels. How cool is that? So far she has bought the fabric and some diamonds for the crown and visited the fabric store and tried to find a good fabric for the gown.
Almost done? :) (no, no sarcasm over here)

And for Sunday she will probably do something fun and cool and awesome aka she doesn't know yet.

And for me Saturday will be:


Alice Baskerville - Pandora Hearts

Aww yiss. I finally found a costume that I actually want to do. Aww yiss.
Guess what I have done to get this one done? I have ordered a wig. YES I HAVE ORDERED A WIG THAT MEANS IT'S 99% DONE THAT MEANS I'M DONE
Clothes and shoes and other stuff is only like 1% of the costume. Isn't it?:)

AAND for the Sunday, Yes Poke got me to do this:




DALEK. FROM DOCTOR WHO.

I know right? SO COOL. What do you mean it's big? What do you mean you will invade all the space? NO, I'm making a fucking Dalek and you bitches better deal with it.
Exterminate.

Ok Ok I may have to do this for some other convention instead of Frostbite (Poke says no, you will do i for Frostbite. IM BEING FORCED TO DO A DALEK COSTUME) because of the size but fine then. FINE. I hope Poke can find a way to fit this inside a car.

So that was it? Oh wait no it wasn't.

I think we are losing it because right now, Poke is planning to make three new costumes for Frostbite. In fact, the third one would be:



Jack Frost - Rise of the Guardians

Yes. Poke joins the army of Jack Frosts in the whole convention. Jack Frosts everywhere!

Really? Let me promise that we will TRY to update again shortly. Now that we have something to write about.

To end this with, I have three things for everyone coming to Desucon Frostbite:

1. Unless you are a peasant and choose to go and see the cosplay competition instead (or you are forced to be there by some peasants) , come here and meet the love of your life:

My oh My it's been a while since we have updated!

But less explaining, more speaking:)

I would like to write a long list of beautiful costumes here and tell how we are proceeding but right now, we don't even have any actual plans!

Mainly because there aren't any conventions closing up and because we live in two different cities and don't discuss as much and get those stupid ideas:D

Have an idea for a cosplay? tell us! We are more than happy to get ideas:D

Oh, but why am I writing if there's nothing cosplay related?

Oh well there is!

I've been sending some e-mails, organizing things a little and BOWCHICKAWAHWAH We are now bringing something new to the finnish conventions!

Back in the summer when we attended Närcon (so many memories ;__;) We also attended to this event called 'SpeedMeeting'

Basically it's an event where people stand facing one another, discuss for 2-3 minutes and switch partners! And if you want to leave, then leave! And come back any time:D

And then, as we sailed back to Finland, our synchronized twin-minds began to come up with an idea:
Why don't we take this idea, and bring it to Finnish conventions as well?

I mean, every Finn knows how hard it is to make new friends?  Finnish conventions need this!

Lonely? Let Momo and Poke find you friends! LET'S BE FRIENDS WITH EACH OTHER!

No one is lonely when everyone has friends, done deal!

Other than that, we are really struggling with choosing the costumes! Maybe we could do something like this?

Would be easy and cheap? I don't know how conventions think about nudity though...

AFTER TRACON

Oh hi,

Yes. We still exist.

Firstly, I'm sorry for this break between our updates. We have been so busy that we've been too busy to be busy. Get it?

No rly. Poke has been having her finals (that are now partly over!) and I, Momo have been doing something unnecessary like moving out from home to another city and starting at a new school. You know, easy stuff.

I guess this explains it well enough:D

Let's get back to business!

After recovering from Närcon, our minds totally forgot cosplay and we left to Italy without actually realizing that after that trip we should be ready with our costumes for Tracon (Black Widow and Iron Man) which, by then were only started  at the state of our minds, and of course - they weren't ready to be wore  to Tracon so we had to make a change of plans!

In a very short period of time (5 hours) we (or Poke) came up with these costumes!

Lady flash and Black Canary both from DC Comics and it was such a relieve to get them done! At least, almost in time, which leads us to the topic of our Panel: 'The collected excuses for cosplayers' or ' cossaajan kootut selitykset (in finnish)' and it was a blast! I'd add a video here but I guess we don't have it (yet?)

From our point of view, it didn't went too well since it was our first panel and all and we finished it *ahem* a *ahem* day *ahem* before *ahem* but all the feedback I've read has been positive and lovely and I've been going like:

The rest of the day went by as we randomly hung around the con area and finally went home - nothing much really!

The next day we were supposed to have a bleach group but we ended up not having it after all since Poke couldn't find her hakamas! And we spent all night looking for them! Just imagine: Us digging up all over our house trying to find a pair of hakamas! We finally ended up like this:

We actually didn't do anything special this day either. Just chilling and stuff-

So let's wait until Desucon Frostbite so we can give you an actual con report:D

I've actually got a liittle something going on with that too so we might be there hosting a program!  A more interactive one this time so wait for it!

Ok, let's admit that we just woke up so any grammar mistakes on that!

Before we go back to cosplay, this is us, ATM! Charming, eh?

OK Poke was just about to place our cups to the fridge instead of washing machine. FAIL

AAAND we're back to cosplay! (for how long? we'll see)

Yesterday we got our backpacks and started packing! YAY

So this is how Poke's room looks like right now:

If you look closely, you might even see some camping stuff! And Momo's Akatsuki sleeping bag! Oh god why

And Tousen sword on the table! And a lamp!!! Yeah.

Our costumes are mostly packed but there's still a bunch of things to do like painting Orihime's boots and triplet shoes and one shirt to be bought..There's plenty of, eh, time?

Also, Momo is required to work from 12-5 pm today and after that, a driving lesson at 6 pm that lasts till 8 pm, so time, Y U NO GROW ON TREES!!!

Gladly the shoes can be painted in Sweden too and that leaves us with only needing to buy a shirt! GREAT!

And no, of course they don't sell plain white dress shirts in Sweden. Not a single chance they would do so.

So today's agenda is to: 

- pack 

- see that we have enough swedish money (which makes us feel very rich since 1 euro is about 8 kronor)

- finish the costumes

- check that we have boat and con tickets all set

- sleep well (since we need to wake up at 3:30 am x_x)

- buy some breakfast that we can eat in the bus when we actually wake up (around 7 am?:D)

Tonight, and only tonight: See how three girls go to sleep at 2:30 am after eating ice cream, chips and chocolate while on 9gag and panicking how to actually fit all of their stuff into their backpacks, where to get more money and how to paint shoes on board without anyone noticing and steal that perfect white dress shirt from that classy sir eating in the restaurant and finally ending up laughing at some stupid words and playing Titanic as the ship sails.

AND HEY! we have business cards on road with us!

So we will be handing these over to YOU PEOPLE IN NÄRCON! and maybe to other creatures too...

So, I might just do a couple of advertisements to place to places and so on, you know, the bigger ones with bigger font and..yeah.

So Närcon is very near!

                              genious, near, närcon is very near hahah..I'm so hilarious..haha..no.

If you would take a walk in our apartment right now, you would be able to see tents and other camping stuff a lot, because we will be staying on the camping area and..camping? Camping is nothing new to us since we are former scouters but camping in cosplay convention?! That's new, we're trying to remember that Linköping is not any small village in the middle of nothing, but a city (about a size of Lahti lol) with all the shops and restaurants! So we're gonna have a citycamping  experience! cool..I guess :D

Our tent is a professional hiking tent with entry hall and bedroom :D sounds good but the reality is..well reality.

Our bus/train to Turku harbor leaves at 5:25am from Tampere train station and then we will catch the boat to  Stockholm and finally, when we reach Stockholm we will take the train to Linköping and finally arrive to our   destination between 10-12pm, so we have a long trip ahead of us!

What's so cool with this? we'll be waking up from our tent next morning ( hopefully..) and we are able to enjoy Närcon the whole day! yayyyyy!!

And how about our cosplays?

As M0m0 already told you in our last blog, we will be cosplaying as triplets and our bleaches  :3

But, we are still thinking about the hattifatteners, since we haven't even started making them just yet and Närcon will last only until 1 pm on Sunday so..new costumes for 3 hours? nopety nope.

There's also some serious work to do with bleaches (sorry if you find that word irritating, but I'm too lazy to write (fruit) Orihime and Tousen every time.. lol) we still need to do the shoes and I have to redo Tousen's hand...things?

We will also be promoting our blog in Närcon!

BORING HISTORY LESSONS AND MORNING GOOD MORNING

Hello everyone! once again it's time to write some total nonsense.

well, not total nonsense, since this is a cosplay blog and I'm going to tell you about my cosplay situation.

So as you know, I'm still working on Cain Nightroad though I have already used it once....but it doesn't mean it's ready does it?
I'm looking forward to his wings, I've never done wings before, but it's all written in my head, how to glue all the feathers and how to attach all the leds and....oh yeah! how to attach leds, by leds, I mean led lights.
yes leds. inside the wings, leds inside the wiiiiinnnggggssss. glowing wings. coooooooolllnesss.

ok, enough of that epic glowing wings shit.

I suppose we'll have to buy christmas lights, since they are cheap, and theres many of them in one packet :0
