DESUCON COUNTDOWN: 4 DAYS

Hello again sweeties!

I will now apologise for the lack of pictures in this post because Poke is somewhere and I have no idea where her camera is so live with it. May update later with some cool photos oh yeah. I will also shamelessly steal photos from Poke's twitter and mine as well. Enough explaining, let's go to the thing itself.

Actually, the reason I'm writing is that our progress with the cosplays for Desucon has come to the point where we just sit and stare with our eyes open. 

Yes, you probably guessed it. Out of four cosplays that are going to be in Desucon, two are finished! Yes, finished. Those two are Chihiro and Prince Philip! 

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the finished costumes (yet) but Poke did upload some WIPs to her Twitter, see Prince Charming and Aurora as well.

I know we're pretty. Actually what you can see in these pics are the wigs. I could tell something about them but that'd be 5000 words so let's leave that for later. I also have this very pretty WIP of Aurora, from which you can see that it's almost done!

After this pic I've actually made the white collar part and some other stuff. To put it briefly, all Aurora needs is to paint the necklace and do some final stitches and paint the lining of that hem. I just don't like the lighter shade of pink in it so painting it is. Over 6 meters of painting a 1 cm thin lining. Yay?

I would love them to cover more but it's too late to order another pair so they must do!

To leave Aurora Behind and go for Haku, the costume is also almost done! Only thing missing is the hakamas. My Chihiro hakamas took 15 minutes to make so...almost done!

So Desucon, feel free to come. We are ready to face you on Friday!

Other than that, see what I did this time with our costumes!

Here's Aurora and Chihiro in their plastic bags, all labeled which makes it easy to find the unfinished costumes when you can find the time to do so. Easy, easier, easiest, control freak Momo level. 

Speaking of me, I have started something that has nothing to do with cosplay. I have decided to take part on Triathlon and Poke has agreed to come with me. I don't even know how Poke has trained but I've started some pretty intense training! Feels great and allows some more muscly cosplays in the future:D

I will try and make Poke update before Desucon where we will be going by car because I got my driver's license. Eek. Our car is from our grandparents and it has MIU on it's plates so NEKOCAR here we come.

I think the header pretty much says it all so let me move forward. So we have had some...wat. *A wild dolan appears* *it's SUPER effective*

Oh, alright then. I know. I forgot. Sorry for not updating in a while! I feel like we start our every blog entry by apologising that we never update lol. So back to the start: I apologise for apologising every time I write a blog entry so I can apologise about apologising. *insert another yo dawg face*

For real though, we have been quite busy. Firstly, we haven't really been much to Finland! After Frostbite we flew to London for a week, then spent three weeks in Finland and headed to St. Petersburg by boat. This was the point I, Momo - dropped Poke off and having spent another three weeks in Finland I took off to Germany for 10 days! Needless to say - it has been quite an amazing time for us!

Of course I could mention the fact that I've been struggling with my health and Poke has had her finals and a theatre play to deal with, not to mention the entrance examinations, first of which will be tomorrow to Teatterikorkeakoulu (A Drama/Acting/ Whatever creative related to acting stuff University) so we will be heading to Helsinki later today! Let's all wish her the best of luck!!! (At least she has the best manager with her. *ahem* me *ahem*)

Ok enough memes and personal stuff let's dig in to the serious business and what this blog is about to start with: Cosplay. 

After Desucon Frostbite we sort of forgot cosplay again for a while but quite recently we have had some plans again. And these plans are serious enough to make official so here we go, cosplays and other plans for Desucon 2013:

Friday: Not decided yet. But we do have some plans for Friday because as we told in our previous blog entry, we are hosting a SpeedMeeting again! It is at koivu from 21-23! For Friday we might as well just pull some Amor related outfits on since the day is too short to bother and make new costumes. I have also agreed to go and try this Shibari-workshop with my girlfriend so an interesting day ahead. 

Saturday: Tada! Time to go Disney! We are cosplaying Sleeping beauty and Prince Phillip!

Poke is going to be Phillip and I get to be the princess!!!! I've already started the crown and the wig and I heard that Poke has started her wig as well. On Saturday I'm also going to be quite busy since I have promised to go and help this lady over here with her Euro Cosplay competition. Eek. Let's all wish her luck as well. (If not for her to win, for me, because if she wins, I get to go to London with her! MWAHAHAH)

Later on Saturday I will reunite with Poke and we will be hosting another session of SpeedMeeting! So if you missed us on Friday, you can also come to Koivu on Saturday from 20:30-22:30! I know you all want to come and have new friends and of course - meet us! We're nice and we don't bite. 

Sunday: On Sunday we're just going to chill! So no program to host or any other duties. Whew. We are still making new costumes for Sunday and they're going to be * drum roll* Haku and Chihiro from Spirited away.

We have already ordered the wigs! Cosplay done, eh? nope. We're going to see if we can find some fabric from Helsinki since the fabric stores in Tampere, not to mention Valkeakoski where I live, just suck. 

AAND that was for the Desucon but afraid not! This isn't over yet. As always, I have something going on again. *Mysterious smile* I have been in touch with some people from a certain convention we went last year and cosplayed from Bleach and slept in a tent and it may have been quite far away from our Hometown and an entirely different city...I think you guessed. But nothing's ensured yet so I don't want to make empty promises! All I can say is that we live quite exciting times right now;)

Ok I will now go and kick my girlfriend up from the bed and pack my stuff so that I can head to Helsinki!

DESUCON FROSTBITE AND SOME SPEEDMEETING

Hello all the lovely people! This is Poke updating our blog again!
Momo just left back to Valkeakoski so this will be all me! BWAHAHAHHAA

I'll start with the last Thursday, this is not entirely cosplay related, but I just want to show you some cool stuff! So on Thursday we had this thing called Penkkarit  and I dressed up as Harley Quinn! You'll see the photos of Harley Quinn later, what I wanted you to see was these supercool signs our class made, I was helping quite a lot so I'm very proud of these lol.

 So I have painted Bane, Superman, Harley Quinn and Loki to this one (and the text), the others were made by my lovely classmates!

And then there's this one which is absolutely fabulous! I didn't do too much work with this one but JUST LOOK AT IT!!! and these are some huge signs, since they cover the sides of a lorry!

Anyways, enough of the Penkkari's, let's talk about..

DESUCON FROSTBITE

I'll make this cool day by day thing as usually :D

Friday:

We started our journey to Desucon Frostbite on Friday morning, with me, Poke, Momo and Hansku (check her blog btw). I had slept like 2,5 hours on last night due to the Penkkarit After Party and Momo and Hansku were also a bit hungover so we kind of..didn't function :D Anyways, we went to Helsinki and just  rolled around (buying manly and womanly pants) for few hours, doing pretty much nothing. The reason why we went there at all, was that our dad was going there and offered to throw us to Lahti since he was on the move already.

As we arrived to Lahti, it took about five minutes to make our room all messy and well, like a cosplayer room. We basically did Momo's costume the whole evening and drank Megaforce since we needed energy!!!!11 (true badasses)

Later in the evening, our friend Amanda joined us (does she have a blog?)

Saturday:

On Saturday morning we woke up at seven, more or less tired. We were ready way before we were supposed to leave, but there's nothing wrong with being early right?
Anyways, I cosplayed Jim Moriarty from BBC Sherlock, with the crown jewels that were hell to make! I'm planning on making some tutorial/ post about the crown itself if I manage to take detailed photos first.

Momo, Hansku and Amanda had their Pandora hearts group and I don't have any photos of them all, but here, have Momo!

Note! the wig has fallen slightly in this photo! but you'll have more of her as the photoshoot pictures arrive!

I'm letting Momo tell you more about this cosplay and so on when she has time.

We also had our Speedmeeting on Saturday and god did it go well?

We were both sure there wouldn't be too many people but we were horribly wrong! Before the whole program even officially started, there were many people waiting and oh my god! At first, we were sure they were just some random people who were just chilling in the room after the previous program but NOPE.

So it went quite well! so well, that we were even  asked if we'd like to arrange it at Desucon too! and yes DO WE DOOO

In the evening we went to the evening party, and what happens in the evening party, stays in the evening party...

Sunday:

On Sunday we all slept way too long and yeah, that's it.

I don't have too much to tell really..we just sort of went around and stuff.

OHHH yeah! the cosplay bootcamp! We were at a panel about Cosplay bootcamp and god yes! it sounds just brilliant! Check their Facebook page for more information

We were  also listening this Digimon vs Pokemon thing and it was cool, even though I hardly listened since I was so tired :( but it was loads of fun!

I cosplayed Harley Quinn (also the Penkkari costume) and here's some photos! We didn't take too many of them since it was FREEZING

Then there's Momo and her Black Canary costume, that we failed to shoot in Tracon so we did that now (though not too much since it was still freezing lol)

I'm playing sophisticated today and going to watch some Shakespeare's Hamlet so yeah, better get ready :D

COSPLAY UPDATE, WHAT'S GOING ON AND TO WHERE?

So Hello..this is Poke updating our blog since Momo nagged me about it. And I admit, Momo has done most of our recent updates.

But here I am and I come with news:

Desucon Frostbite is held 16-17th of .Feb.2013

it's 20th of Jan right now and guess what?

OUR COSTUMES ARE ALMOST DONE!

Now this is new because:

-We have actually started our cosplays over a month before the convention
-We have actually got things done
-We have actually decided what costumes to make over a month before convention. (edit: a lie.)

THIS IS PRETTY COOL ISN'T IT

I'll give you some proof, meaning WIP photos!

First Momo's Alice:

The whole jacket is in very good state, it hasn't been properly ironed in these pictures and so on, but here you go, She's doing real good.

Only problem she's having is that her wig hasn't come yet :( But there's still time right, RIGHT?

Then me and my Moriarty:

 I had some clear diamonds so I painted them blue with Humbrol enamel paint Shade/AO566/52
 if you've used Citadel paint, it's about the same, only more liquid and in my opinion it has wider range of materials it's suitable for, since it had no problems with painting glass! also, when I first thought I would only paint the other side to make the diamonds look better, I decided to paint the both sides, since the paint only gave it colour without changing the surface.
Also, as you can see, I had to embed the diamonds to the..er..silver parts? so they would be translucent.
It was pretty simple, just making a hole and ta-da it fits! I did use hot glue to attach them but yeah.

 For now I have only done silver templates, but as you may see, I'm going to bling them up with spangles, but  guess what? I've been searching the whole Tampere for them and nope. Okay I found a bag of 60 silver spangles for 2.99 euros but seriously? 60? and for that price? I did find some golden ones, orange ones, black ones and fucking rainbow ones in the bags of 200 pieces for 1.99 but REALLY? no silver? But as I am an innovative cosplayer, I figured out that the color is easily removable  with nail polish remover or some other alcohol. Yiss.
So I'm going to polish 200 spangles into silver ones instead of paying more.

This is the full crown right now,  it's been stitched up for this photo, for example, the fur is not going to look like that, or anything. Just to show you the progress.

Okay enough with the WIP's.

Some random reader: But Frostbite lasts two days! 

Poke:*silences with a piece of craft foam and threatens with a hot glue gun* I wasn't finished, you moron.

So.

Yes, our cosplays for first day are doing fine but Sunday..Sunday,Sunday,Sunday.

Momo has no clue and I'm changing my plans:

Instead of Kuzco (Which is still on my cosplay-list, I'm just putting him to the Desucon) I will make my own version of Harley Quinn, and why?

We have this thing called penkkarit here in Finland, and traditionally, ''Abi's'' (meaning candidate for the final exams) dress up according to their theme, I'm not going to spoil what's our theme but since the penkkari's are on the Valentines day (aka two days before convention) I decided to go with the Harley Quinn to the frostbite too.

Ok, let's admit that we just woke up so any grammar mistakes on that!

Before we go back to cosplay, this is us, ATM! Charming, eh?

OK Poke was just about to place our cups to the fridge instead of washing machine. FAIL

AAAND we're back to cosplay! (for how long? we'll see)

Yesterday we got our backpacks and started packing! YAY

So this is how Poke's room looks like right now:

And Tousen sword on the table! And a lamp!!! Yeah.

Our costumes are mostly packed but there's still a bunch of things to do like painting Orihime's boots and triplet shoes and one shirt to be bought..There's plenty of, eh, time?

Also, Momo is required to work from 12-5 pm today and after that, a driving lesson at 6 pm that lasts till 8 pm, so time, Y U NO GROW ON TREES!!!

Gladly the shoes can be painted in Sweden too and that leaves us with only needing to buy a shirt! GREAT!

And no, of course they don't sell plain white dress shirts in Sweden. Not a single chance they would do so.

So today's agenda is to: 

- pack 

- see that we have enough swedish money (which makes us feel very rich since 1 euro is about 8 kronor)

- finish the costumes

- check that we have boat and con tickets all set

- sleep well (since we need to wake up at 3:30 am x_x)

- buy some breakfast that we can eat in the bus when we actually wake up (around 7 am?:D)

Tonight, and only tonight: See how three girls go to sleep at 2:30 am after eating ice cream, chips and chocolate while on 9gag and panicking how to actually fit all of their stuff into their backpacks, where to get more money and how to paint shoes on board without anyone noticing and steal that perfect white dress shirt from that classy sir eating in the restaurant and finally ending up laughing at some stupid words and playing Titanic as the ship sails.

AND HEY! we have business cards on road with us!

Poke made these with scissors and paper. and computer (or magical powers)

So we will be handing these over to YOU PEOPLE IN NÄRCON! and maybe to other creatures too...

So, I might just do a couple of advertisements to place to places and so on, you know, the bigger ones with bigger font and..yeah.

This is an extempore trip that we managed to arrange. We travel with a group of six people who are not really related to cosplay (except naru) However one girl of our group told us that she is a fan of our blog and is now disappointed 'cause we haven't been updating that much.Bad momo and poke *deathly stare*

Anyway, we are now sitting on a cafeteria and waiting for our bus to leave (or our laziness to end)

Yay. now it's probably been like 2 hours and we're on a board! I can't wait until we reach tallin and the cheap fabric stores. Someone said that you can also buy some wigs but I don't really buy it.

*realizes that the ship moves* I think I need to stop before we reach the border and my internet connection closes down. We will update after our trip (or when we find a wi-fi spot?)
