DESUCON COUNTDOWN: 24 DAYS

Because we are actually doing quite well with our costumes ( or I, Momo, am.) ! Let me give you a short update of how we're doing. (with actual pictures *gasp*). I didn't take pictures of everything because I was too lazy to dig them up so you will have to be pleased with only these. Ok, here we go, day by day, costume by costume.

Friday: Still no fucking idea what we're going to do lol. Well, 24 days....

So far Poke has started to sew the shirt/dress/whatever and I guess the best thing I can show you is this awesome upper part of the sleeve:

So far I've done the hem of the dress and started the middle part. Today I WILL sew the sleeves and that odd thingy between the hem and the upper part lol. I've also started the crown. I know, it's so beautiful lol:

What do you mean paint it? No way I love those lemons. Close enough! And yes. It's made of a plastic tablet which btw is a great and cheap material! Also forms itself within heat. (4x 1€ in IKEA too expensive, huh?) I think I will also make the necklace out of this and then paint them and show you how it will look like!

Poke actually made something out of it! See the Moriarty crown?

It's mostly made out of that plastic! Cheap and nice and funny to work with. Also almost all kinds of paints stick into it really nicely. (Citadel, Acrylic paint, Spray paint etc.) Ok done advertising let me get back to Aurora.

Here you can see the hooks I've sown behind it because I prefer hooks over zippers. I just hate sewing zippers. Especially hidden ones.

I ironed some buckram to the upper part to make it more stiff and I will also make a lining inside it with something stronger than the actual fabric because Aurora has a body form of a satan.  Just take a look:




What is that supposed to be? An X? I don't really know lol. Anyway, here's how the dress is now looking. It's still not fully fitted so don't judge me! And yes, that sleeve totally belongs there. We were just too lazy to do Aurora and Philip so we combined them! Good, ay?

 Oh and I lied about not having done the necklase. Don't you see that beautiful thing at the neck? Tape measure is close enough. The hem isn't fully finished either but almost! I wanted to go with organza on the top since it is a princess dress and the hem must be princess-y!

Sunday: Haku and Chihiro (Spirited Away)

Ok let me start with Haku.

I'm done with Haku.

All Poke has is the wig and the fabric ( not even all of it!) So I won't dig deeper.

To-do-list for Poke:

- Do the whole fucking costume.

AAAND Chihiro is actually almost done!!!

Here's the yet unstyled wig that I actually did cut yesterday but didn't take a picture:(

The costume itself is cut, sown and only to be groomed and ironed! I also need to make the belt but that's nothing too big. I could finish it in one hour. Yes. One hour. TAKE THAT POKE.

No really I've never finished (or almost finished) anything so early! This has been done for  almost two weeks now actually! Yeah. I think I'm losing it.

As for Desucon we've had the hotel booked for months and the tickets are on Desucon for us since we are working there so nothing to worry about! Except how do we get to Lahti but that'll be cleared out tomorrow when I either get my driver's license or not. (Thumbs up for me guys!)

Ok now I'll need to head to do some actual business so Adiós!

GURLS STEP UP TO THE PARTAYY

Yo mah fellow cosplayas! How's the thug life rollin' in da hoodz?

It'z supa cool ya know? Just get in da mood shawt's cuz this is gon' b so damn gr8 piece of txt!!

Ok ok ok. Let me get into god news. I'm going to write the rest of this post with a normal(ish) English.

Why did I ask you to play that song? Well firstly, IT'S SO GOD DAMN GREAT. Secondly, the lyrics kind of match our current cosplay motivation and thirdly, our costumes are almost done. Yes you heard right. Almost done. Which is kind of good since Desucon Frostbite will be held in a week. Omg yes. In a week.

For me, Momo, the situation is looking quite good already!! My coat is ready and my bootcovers only lack laces and then boom! I'm done. Ok I need to attach the front piece to the jacket and the bow as well but prfft that's an easy job, isn't it?
As for the scythe, the situation isn't looking as god but I will get to paint it tomorrow so close enough?
Seriously though, I need to give a big applause to myself. During this weekend I've:

- painted all the fucking squares to the whole costume (there were around 30 damn squares.)
- sewn the cuffs to the sleeves
- attached the hem to the upper part
- the collars
- the scythe into the point where I just cover it and paint it.
- bootcovers nearly done
- wigstyling for both me and Poke.
- Ok I've fucking moved this costume from point 20% done to 95% done. THAT'S ALOT.
- (gotten a new phone and finished my school assignments ok lol nope)

Desucon Frostbite is on the worst weekend possible for me since I have a load of exams and assignments coming up just before it and also right after it so you will be finding a bookworm Momo with a cute Marketing book from our hotel room. Haha. Hahahahahaha. Nope. Like I really could study during the convention? Lol nope.
And yes. I'm only doing one cosplay for the whole convention though I may  use one of my old cosplays on Sunday. (Black Canary? Seriously I have no idea:D)

Now let me hand the power over to my bro Pok-E yo dawg.

SSUP  YALL? IT'S POKEY DOKEY POK-E THE BIG E YALL KNOW- oh enough? okay

SO my costumes for the weekend are doing quite fine too! In fact, to speak the truth, both costumes are fucking 90% or more done yissssss.

Okay, so Harley Quinn  is basically ready, all I need to do is some little finish up with the details and stuff like that, so getting in there may I say? But my deadline with Harley Quinn is..oh well in four days, since I'm wearing it to the Penkkari's (scroll down few posts to get the explanation..)
Momo made so cool-looking list so yeah this is me copying her, deal with it.

-Dress is done, all it needs is some basic finishing like you know, cutting the threads and you know, basic.
-The collar lacks few stitches, but I'll get there as soon as I find a needle, seriously, ALL our hand-sewing needles have gone missing...
-Shoes are styled and done
-I made the coolest ring!
-I bought 5 pairs of white stockings, just in case (they were 1.50euros/5 pairs so not a great loss?)
-I made cool hammer with you know, cool stuff and so on.
-The hammer is cooolll
-coool hammer I haz
-HAMMER TIEM
-um yeah. The wig needs fixing but Momo is on it.

AND then I have the lovely Jim Moriarty.

I'm pretty much done with him too, only the crown has lots to do but I'm on it...and I've taken my cosplay to whole new level by learning ALL Jim's lines from the show, how cool is that?
But because  lists are cool:
-The cape has still some stuff to do...like boring sewing stuff
-but it's almost there
-The crown lacks some BLING DA BLING BLING and some FUR DA FUR FUR YO DAWG I'M THE KING YALLLL
-and then there are the trousers...I have no idea.
- make up is being under rehearsals
-shirt and shoes I haz.

I think that's it about them, Momo got anything left?

COSPLAY UPDATE, WHAT'S GOING ON AND TO WHERE?

So Hello..this is Poke updating our blog since Momo nagged me about it. And I admit, Momo has done most of our recent updates.

But here I am and I come with news:

Desucon Frostbite is held 16-17th of .Feb.2013

it's 20th of Jan right now and guess what?

OUR COSTUMES ARE ALMOST DONE!

Now this is new because:

-We have actually started our cosplays over a month before the convention
-We have actually got things done
-We have actually decided what costumes to make over a month before convention. (edit: a lie.)

THIS IS PRETTY COOL ISN'T IT

I'll give you some proof, meaning WIP photos!

First Momo's Alice:

The whole jacket is in very good state, it hasn't been properly ironed in these pictures and so on, but here you go, She's doing real good.

Only problem she's having is that her wig hasn't come yet :( But there's still time right, RIGHT?

Then me and my Moriarty:

 I had some clear diamonds so I painted them blue with Humbrol enamel paint Shade/AO566/52
 if you've used Citadel paint, it's about the same, only more liquid and in my opinion it has wider range of materials it's suitable for, since it had no problems with painting glass! also, when I first thought I would only paint the other side to make the diamonds look better, I decided to paint the both sides, since the paint only gave it colour without changing the surface.
Also, as you can see, I had to embed the diamonds to the..er..silver parts? so they would be translucent.
It was pretty simple, just making a hole and ta-da it fits! I did use hot glue to attach them but yeah.

 For now I have only done silver templates, but as you may see, I'm going to bling them up with spangles, but  guess what? I've been searching the whole Tampere for them and nope. Okay I found a bag of 60 silver spangles for 2.99 euros but seriously? 60? and for that price? I did find some golden ones, orange ones, black ones and fucking rainbow ones in the bags of 200 pieces for 1.99 but REALLY? no silver? But as I am an innovative cosplayer, I figured out that the color is easily removable  with nail polish remover or some other alcohol. Yiss.
So I'm going to polish 200 spangles into silver ones instead of paying more.

This is the full crown right now,  it's been stitched up for this photo, for example, the fur is not going to look like that, or anything. Just to show you the progress.

Okay enough with the WIP's.

Some random reader: But Frostbite lasts two days! 

Poke:*silences with a piece of craft foam and threatens with a hot glue gun* I wasn't finished, you moron.

So.

Yes, our cosplays for first day are doing fine but Sunday..Sunday,Sunday,Sunday.

Momo has no clue and I'm changing my plans:

Instead of Kuzco (Which is still on my cosplay-list, I'm just putting him to the Desucon) I will make my own version of Harley Quinn, and why?

We have this thing called penkkarit here in Finland, and traditionally, ''Abi's'' (meaning candidate for the final exams) dress up according to their theme, I'm not going to spoil what's our theme but since the penkkari's are on the Valentines day (aka two days before convention) I decided to go with the Harley Quinn to the frostbite too.

AFTER TRACON

Oh hi,

Yes. We still exist.

Firstly, I'm sorry for this break between our updates. We have been so busy that we've been too busy to be busy. Get it?

No rly. Poke has been having her finals (that are now partly over!) and I, Momo have been doing something unnecessary like moving out from home to another city and starting at a new school. You know, easy stuff.

I guess this explains it well enough:D

Let's get back to business!

After recovering from Närcon, our minds totally forgot cosplay and we left to Italy without actually realizing that after that trip we should be ready with our costumes for Tracon (Black Widow and Iron Man) which, by then were only started  at the state of our minds, and of course - they weren't ready to be wore  to Tracon so we had to make a change of plans!

In a very short period of time (5 hours) we (or Poke) came up with these costumes!

Lady flash and Black Canary both from DC Comics and it was such a relieve to get them done! At least, almost in time, which leads us to the topic of our Panel: 'The collected excuses for cosplayers' or ' cossaajan kootut selitykset (in finnish)' and it was a blast! I'd add a video here but I guess we don't have it (yet?)

From our point of view, it didn't went too well since it was our first panel and all and we finished it *ahem* a *ahem* day *ahem* before *ahem* but all the feedback I've read has been positive and lovely and I've been going like:

The rest of the day went by as we randomly hung around the con area and finally went home - nothing much really!

The next day we were supposed to have a bleach group but we ended up not having it after all since Poke couldn't find her hakamas! And we spent all night looking for them! Just imagine: Us digging up all over our house trying to find a pair of hakamas! We finally ended up like this:

We actually didn't do anything special this day either. Just chilling and stuff-

NÄRCON HAKAMA JUNGLE DANCE

Hi/hej/moi whatever

So Närcon is finally over, the convention we were waiting and waiting and so very excited about.

and...

you know to be honest..

we must say this...

don't be mad..

BUT IT WAS A BLAST!! GANSKA AWESOME, PERFECT!! WHAT ELSE? FRUITY!! FAPPABLE!! dafuq.

We decided to be superlame and make one of these "day-by-day" posts since it's the easiest way and we are lazy. deal with it. A kind of...travel diary or something?

btw, I think this mini text is so cool. and cute. KAWAIII

Here we go!

WEDNESDAY the day of waiting and adventures.

We woke up at 3:30 am.

Well we woke up at 3:30 am.

I think that's pretty much our morning, we woke up and we weren't too tired, which was good, but odd. 

We got ourselves out of our apartment at around 5pm and so the long journey started.

At first we had to travel to Turku/Åbo, to catch our boat to Stockholm, and everything went well and we were having some very nice time on boat!

 

Such a beautiful weather!

we were bored so Momo made this to Poke.

After spending too much money in tax-free and eating too much candy and oreos and drinking too many bottles of coca cola zero we finally made it to Stockholm!

And now, here comes the not  funny and very adventurous part where trains are playing the main role.

So yes, we were in Stockholm about a time we were supposed to, only 10 minutes late, and that was 10 minutes too much, because according to our plan, we should have caught the train in 30 minutes after landing... so there we were standing on the front line of the people trying to get out of the boat, ready to smash every unfortunate human being trying to override us, like a fighters we pulled ourselves out and managed to get out in the fresh air first! we were first because we ran the stairs down when other people used escalators....

But this magnificent effort wasn't enough :( We didn't catch our train! so instead of being in Linköping at 10pm, we had to take the bus which was cool because there wi-fi in the bus and we finally got ourselves to Linköping at 11.40pm..

And now we were supposed to drag ourselves to the Linköping university without a single idea where should we go...and after a while we realized there were no buses going in there by that time and we thought we were screwed! but then we spotted a nice man who told us some directions, and even better, we realized that our GPS was working just fine! So we walked and walked with our heavy backpack while Momo was guiding us....AND THERE IT WAS! Linköping university! I can't really describe the feelings we had at a time when we saw these blue lights and painting with a Närcon logo on it, but the joy was just about to begun, because within a minute or two, there were some wonderful Swedish guys helping us out to find the camping area! we love Swedish people♥ The time was something around 1.am when we finally found the camping area and explained our situation and FINALLY started to put up our tent with only the little light our phones gave us! but like that wouldn't have been too late to finally catch some sleep, we ended up wandering around    the Närcon area looking for bathrooms...'nuff said. I think the time was something around 3am when we finally laid our heads to the pillows.

THORSDAY pfschscht thor..clever. The day of triplets!

The clock: around 8 am

Momo: MAD

Reason: Someone waking me up by talking outside our tent

So I woke up. AT 8 AM. After having way too little sleep. I tried to still catch some Z's but I'm one of those who wake up and well, can't sleep anymore so I decided to put up my clothes and leave Poke and Hisi to sleep and go out to check out the con area that was bathing on sunlight! I managed to finally find the showers and then went and bought some breakfast for the two lazies still happily sleeping.

When I came back, I found out that they had gone to showers so I kinda cleaned our tent and waited them up. Once they arrived we decided that it was about the time to go and wear our triplet costumes and guess what: Both of them had forgotten their ribbons! So I went like;

So we looked from all around our tent and finally decided to cut my ribbon in two and leave out the arm ribbons and were all done to leave when POKE CHECKED INSIDE HER SHOE AND FOUND HER FREAKING RIBBONS. So I went like:

However, we finally got out of the camping area and jumped in to our costumes (we managed to get all ribbons for everyone) and went to the Närcon area.

Or so we thought! In Finland, it's not common to queue for the convention so we were quite surprised when we noticed this "little" line! But it wasn't too bad and we met some new people while waiting so it was just cool. After an hour or so we finally got our wristbands and dug in to the convention.

It was quite amusing when people came up to us and started speaking Swedish on multispeed of which even I, Momo who actually know some Swedish couldn't understand so we had to be awkward and ask everyone to translate in English. Lol. We even learned a new word of Swedish: trillingarna = triplets.

We met so many nice people and everyone was so kind, asking us where we came from and what we liked about in Sweden. We also met Valkoinen Samurai who's been commenting our blog for some time and his lovely twin  Jäätynyt Enkeli with whom we also hung up on other days. You guys were awesome and it was cool meeting you!:D

Speaking of twins, there was this awesome Ouran high school host club thingy where you were actually able to talk with the characters (or the one's who cosplayed them) and we decided to go for it and meet the Haruhi twins since we were cosplaying triplets (and me and Poke are also twins...) and because they were so cute and had a nice 20 min chat with them!

We also attended to a thing called 'speed meeting' that was a bit like speed dating but in a friendly way. That was just awesome and I think we will bring it to Finnish conventions as well! Tracon, here we come...

Then we wandered around a little and finally went back to our tent and switched into more casual clothes. While we were walking, the IDGAF mode went on and Poke ended up doing the 'triplet off duty' version:

After going casual we went to McDonald's (surprise) and ate FOOD. We tried to find a store but couldn't so...fuck it, Happy meal it is.

Once we had eaten our nutritious and healthy meal ( Poke got some free nuggets!!!) we headed back to Närcon and saw these awesome Mau5heads:

We are wearing the new wigs we bought! Just need to think of a cosplay for those..

After trolling around we headed back to tent and went to sleep "early" at 2:30 am:D

FRIDAY Bleaching around and so on

The clock: around 7:30

Poke: Tired

Reason: Waking up way too early due to time taking make-up.

So there I was, sitting on our tent's entry hall, still downloading some mind to my body, trying to collect all the stuff I would need to turn myself from blond and pale to black and rastafari.

So I struggled myself to the Campushallen and found out that it was filled with cosplayers, so I put my stuff to it's place and tried to go to shower, soon it turned out that washing my hair was a bad idea, because I had no time to let it dry, and I knew I would be sweating around all day and I had to put the wig with plastic cap inside it, on to my wet hair, also making up in Campushallen wasn't good idea, since there were no too many mirrors..so I got back to our tents and then, when Momo and Hisi had their costumes done, it was time to go to Närcon!

Cosplaying Tousen in Finland is a little different, because in Finland, it's ok to pretend to be black, but I kind of felt like having a few bad looks., since they thought I was making a joke about black people, which I wasn't!! I actually think that black men are hot!! But I decided not to care about it! And on the other hand, there were many people coming to me thumbs up and saying "respect" which made me feel very good♥

So there we were, derping around  the convention and stuff :D Met some awesome people!!

After a while we noticed that something was going on and saw people playing cosplay chess, which basically means people playing chess with cosplayers and everytime you "drop-off" you have to battle!

Then we decided to go go find a store, so I asked directions from the info and was told that somewhere near  would be a "small or medium-size store" and when we actually got there...IT WAS HUGE! way bigger than our nearest grocery store! according to the fact that we do live in the center of the city and it was located somewhere in the middle of suburbs..DAFUQ!'

We were having some pretty weird looks on our way there lol :D

We bought ice-cream, baquettes, pie, juice and all the other cool stuff and enjoyed!

Due to our decision day before, we  didn't go to mcdonals at all! instead, we found out that there was free wi-fi just outside of pressbyrån! so facebook it was!

BTW, earlier that day, we found out that there other finns! It was supercool!

We also met this awesome Grimmjow cosplayer who teached us the term "fappable" since there were two girls making out and stuff :D which was..well..awkward

SATURDAY The day of meeting more people

The clock: 8 am

Momo: Thinking about waking up

Reason: Need to be off to Bleach meet up at 10 am!

In the morning we woke up and jumped into our costumes as fast as possible (Ok, not as fast as we should have) and left from our tent to the main doors of Närcon and attended the Bleach meet up! There were around 30+ Bleach cosplayers and we formed a line and walked around the con as "the bleach army" and ended up having an interesting-ish photoshoot with well, awkward yaoi/yuri poses...

Some of the poses were quite funny, like this one with Starrk (why he is a pimp after all)

After photoshooting we hung around the place for a while and then decided to go to McDonald's (again) and eat something. I'm not trying to impress you or anything but we had......Happy meals! YAYY

And while we were enjoying our meals, a wild Scout cosplayer appeared and started a McDonald's happy meal battle! That lasted for like...20 minutes to half an hour:D Yup, we're adults!

We later heard that the toy was named Herbert ♥

After the battle we headed back to Närcon and were just chilling around until we were called to have another Bleach photoshoot! It turned out to be awesome since the people we photoshooted with were so lovely and nice and cool and awesome and and...I don't have the words to describe you guys ♥

I just realized that we don't have too many shots from that photoshoot so feel free to tell us if you do!

Now, let me get to the part you've been expecting the most: Jungle Hakama Dancing line!

So, as we were afraid, Poke decided to take a lead and ask all the bleach characters with hakamas to dance the hakama jungle dance (of which I don't have any photos so if you do, please inform us!) And there it goes: about 15 bleach cosplayers in hakamas doing this:

You can only imagine.

After the photoshoot we ended up spending the night with these awesome people we had met! We gathered together to have a campfire-ish thing and talked about...stuff :D Like Finland and Moomins!

This photo is taken from  "The Twin Sofa" where Poke was sitting with a pair of twins. They were the third twins we met at Närcon...Twincon up next? Poke had already took her costume off by then, since it takes a long time to remove the color..

Around 1 am we headed back to tents with some of the people we had met that night and had some deep-ish conversations on our way back to the tents:D

Then we went to sleep and...*Poke interrupts*

-Momo, you forgot to tell them something. *sarcastic face*

- What.....Oh no...Oh..no!!!

Fine, I admit it. I was fangirling over these awesome Sasuke and Itachi cosplayers. I was fangirling so bad I had to have this picture taken. Happy now?

SUNDAY and MONDAY a Stockholm day.

The clock: 8 am???

Poke: sleepy but still quite active.

Reason: why not?

We woke up quite early, feeling just fine and collected all our stuff  and packed them and went back to Närcon for the last time, we decided not to cosplay, since it was only few hours and it's such a pain in the ass to bind and all :D

But after showering up and putting on our normal clothes, we headed to Närcon yard and fpund our friends from last night, we chatted with them for some time, and wished them well with hugs, since we had to leave to the train station!

Finding a bus stop was our first job, easy, it was near and so on. BUT when the bus came something happened!

We had like totally no idea, that tickets can't be bought from the bus and there was many people waiting to get into bus and we had crushed there first and...the bus driver was like suuuperawesome and perfect, because she let us go free of charge!!! and she even skipped all the other stops! since the bus was full..

And then, train did it again.

We went to the train station and met Valkoinen Samurai and Jäätynyt Enkeli for once again! But when we were about to buy tickets, there was so many people waiting to buy their tickets and only one people serving them that we missed our train AGAIN! and yet, the next train was fully booked so we missed it too! but it was only 4 minutes before the  train we ended up travelling with, so no hard feelings!

(but the train tickets were very expensive!!!)

We pretty much slept the whole journey from Linköping to Stockholm so..yeah :D

When we arrived to Stockholm Momo lead us to our HOTEL!!1!

Our Hotel was located just in the center of  Stockholm which was great!

Then we spent our day in Stockholm and in the morning we went back to finland with a boat and yeaahhh our parents and dog picked us up from the harbor and took us home. I'm tired of writing...'nuff said.

Ok, let's admit that we just woke up so any grammar mistakes on that!

*Poke yawns loudly* 

*Chain reaction: Momo yawns (louder)*

And now YOU will yawn too! dafuq Poke just yawned o.O

Fine, that's it about the yawning. This isn't a yawning blog after all. bananascanyawnit.blogspot.com? COOL.

Before we go back to cosplay, this is us, ATM! Charming, eh?

OK Poke was just about to place our cups to the fridge instead of washing machine. FAIL

AAAND we're back to cosplay! (for how long? we'll see)

Yesterday we got our backpacks and started packing! YAY

So this is how Poke's room looks like right now:

If you look closely, you might even see some camping stuff! And Momo's Akatsuki sleeping bag! Oh god why

And Tousen sword on the table! And a lamp!!! Yeah.

Our costumes are mostly packed but there's still a bunch of things to do like painting Orihime's boots and triplet shoes and one shirt to be bought..There's plenty of, eh, time?

Also, Momo is required to work from 12-5 pm today and after that, a driving lesson at 6 pm that lasts till 8 pm, so time, Y U NO GROW ON TREES!!!

Gladly the shoes can be painted in Sweden too and that leaves us with only needing to buy a shirt! GREAT!

And no, of course they don't sell plain white dress shirts in Sweden. Not a single chance they would do so.

So today's agenda is to: 

- pack 

- see that we have enough swedish money (which makes us feel very rich since 1 euro is about 8 kronor)

- finish the costumes

- check that we have boat and con tickets all set

- sleep well (since we need to wake up at 3:30 am x_x)

- buy some breakfast that we can eat in the bus when we actually wake up (around 7 am?:D)

Tonight, and only tonight: See how three girls go to sleep at 2:30 am after eating ice cream, chips and chocolate while on 9gag and panicking how to actually fit all of their stuff into their backpacks, where to get more money and how to paint shoes on board without anyone noticing and steal that perfect white dress shirt from that classy sir eating in the restaurant and finally ending up laughing at some stupid words and playing Titanic as the ship sails.

AND HEY! we have business cards on road with us!

and they are exactly how cool?

Poke made these with scissors and paper. and computer (or magical powers)

So we will be handing these over to YOU PEOPLE IN NÄRCON! and maybe to other creatures too...

So, I might just do a couple of advertisements to place to places and so on, you know, the bigger ones with bigger font and..yeah.
